With their win streak now extended to six games, the Swarthmore baseball team boosted their record to an impressive 14-6 with a 15-6 win against Keuka College on Monday afternoon.
The Garnet saw themselves trailing 0-2 in the third inning, until a balk and an RBI single from Gregory Cox ’15 brought the score to an even 2-2. The fifth inning saw an offensive burst, as the Garnet scored seven runs off of hits from Danny McMahon ’15, Bryce Codell ’13, and Rory McTear ’13. Keuka surged briefly in the top of the sixth, scoring two additional runs, but the Garnet extended the lead comfortably with two more hits in the seventh and four more hits in the eighth. Joe Warren ’16 pitched five innings, limiting Keuka to only two runs.
Swarthmore will resume Centennial Conference action as they look to take on Haverford this afternoon. The game is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
On Monday, the Swarthmore golf team took first place in their first home match of the spring season, ending the day with a score of 315 at the Swarthmore Invitational. Andrew Park ’15 ended the day with a score of 73 for first place overall, and Kyle Krainock ’13 shot a 79 to tie for fifth place overall.
The Garnet return to action this Sunday and Monday at the Hershey Country Club for the Hershey Cup.
