The Book and Key Society: March 14th, 1918

This article is part of a series called Last Century Today. Last week, we were on break, so what follows is the minutes of Book and Key, Swarthmore’s secret society, from exactly 100 years and one week ago. 

The Temple 3/14/18.

Regular meeting of Book and Key Society was called to order by Senior Praeces Donnelly. Minutes of preceding meeting were read and approved.

Senior Blau reported for Investigation Committee on publicity of Tap Day. Suggests writing Morris Clothier as to this matter.

Senior Blau reported having talked with a Dean on two dollars fine on examinations not taken on time. Dean firm on ruling. Senior Donnelly reports matter is to be taken up by both men & women’s student government. Discussion on the matter.

Senior Riley reports on talk with Prexy on change in Economics department. Prexy says unable to build up until after war. Discussion on present system of electing managers. Sentiment in favor of change or rather modification of present system.

Proposal to start the new men in the right manner and to give them the right idea.

Adjournment to discuss new men.
